It has been a fairly rough week for us. A week ago Sunday Justin's grandpa had a heart attack while guest preaching at a church in Nob Hill. Incredibly enough there were a couple women in the service that were either in training or are nurses/EMTs that immediately performed CPR. His grandpa flatlined and just in the nick of time the Nob Hill First Responders arrived and had to revive him.. :( The ambulance rushed in the Northwest Medical in Springdale where he was taken the ER. Many tests were performed that evening while they had him connected to a respirator. They kept him on the respirator until Tuesday when they finally removed it and it seems as though he was in immediate pain, which we later found out was the verge of another heart attack before quickly being rushed to the OR where they found 95% blockage in the front artery of his heart. Along with all of that, they also found some pneumonia in one of his lungs. We visited him several times throughout the week and he just made me so sad each time we saw him. At the beginning of the week they were having to keep his arms/hands tied down because he was trying to take out the tube for the respirator. As of Tuesday after the surgery he was talking some and had no idea what all had happened and thought it was still Sunday. We went to see him again yesterday and he is still in quite a bit of pain but was sitting up eating a real meal (hospital meal of course) and talking. He definitely thinks he is funny again.. ;-) He has been a scary, interesting week that felt like it was never going to end! As of yesterday he was doing so much better and the pneumonia was almost completely under control. Last I heard, he was going to stay in the hospital until Monday or Tuesday of this week depending on his check ups.
On a little better of a note-I think Justin's grandma (not married to the grandpa written above) is doing much better. She had an off week this last week from her chemo treatments, and I believe she has another off week this week. She is stylin in her wigs and staying strong through all this. We just continue to pray that her other treatments will do their job and when this is all over hopefully we will see that it has taken care of all the remaining cancer!
Also, I heard today that my grandpa has decided to start eating again and has gained 10 pounds in this last week! This has just been an up and down rollercoaster for him here these last couple weeks. Unfortunately it's only a matter of time but we just don't know how soon or how long it will be.
There will always be storms, but no storm is too strong for God's help.
