This weekend I completed several projects at the house with my dad's help! We got quite a bit accomplished. Saturday morning my dad and I got up and headed over to mine and Justin's house to get started. Our first job of the day was to cover the side light windows at our front door. Justin didn't like the fact that anyone could see straight into the house if you were just standing outside. His plan was to put curtains over them. My plan... not to put curtains over them. But I knew something had to be done or else I'm sure Justin would have tried to create his own type of curtain. Well my aunt and uncle just bought a new house recently and they found this neat thing at Lowe's to cover side light windows with. It is a film that you use a particular solution with to put on the windows. My aunt and uncle went with a stained-glass window look. I picked out a different design, it's called raindrops. So my dad and I did those first, which didn't take very long at all, at least not as long as I thought it was going to take. Here are some pictures of the before and after, it is kind of hard to tell but it does look very good in person. It still lets in light but if you are outside then you can not see inside, and vice versa. If you are inside and look out, people just look like blurry blobs. =)

This window above has not been treated with the film yet.

This one has, which you can kind of tell in the upper windows. It kind of reminds me of blurry glass that it normally put in bathrooms above tubs or showers...
Our next project was the landscaping. I have been wanting to do something with this since we closed on the house! Whoever lived here or whoever did this landscaping had no concept of design or alignment.. We took a LOT of the plants out and planted some new things. It is still a work in progress but I am already so pleased with how it looks already.

This is what we started with... random plants/bushes and mini trees just stuck in the ground.

The aftermath... 3 little mums and some very nicely trimmed "green things"

AND---- my dad and I planted the first tree!!! Our yard has nothing in it, and it was definitely asking for a tree. It's so cute! I'm just hoping it makes it through the winter though. We are going to have to keep an eye on it for sure.
Besides our new projects- we have a couple of weekends here that are going to slow down some before the weeks and weekends get going again with all kinds of stuff! Can you believe there's only 1 more week of October!! Justin and I are going to a Halloween party at our friends, Mark & Kari's, next Saturday evening. Therefore this week consists of finishing my costume up and figuring out what Justin is going to dress up as! I am so excited to see everyone, it has been SO long since we have gotten to hang out with any of our friends.
I hope everyone has a great week!
